How We Said Goodbye In Spain

After seven years of living in Spain off and on, I have finally broken my Sierra Nevada virginity. Well, technically, it was just the tip. I have been to the region known as the Alpujarras several times which could be counted as visiting Sierra Nevada. The Alpujarras is located on the south slopes of Sierra Nevada. However, that is not the region people are referring to when they say they have been to Sierra Nevada. Sierra Nevada is a mountain range found in the beautiful province of Granda, Spain. The name itself means snow-covered. People who visit go mainly to the ski resort because it is considered one of Europe’s most southern resorts. If you have seen the movie Society of Snow, you have seen a portion of the mountain range. It truly is a sight to see. Despite this impressiveness, I was never that interested in going to Sierra Nevada. I was fine with just seeing it from the movie or freeway when driving home from my in-laws.

Truthfully, I have just never been a fan of snow there. I grew up in Georgia, USA, and I can count on my hand the number of times I have seen snow. I consider Granada Centro (Granada Center) similar to my hometown in that regard. We get cold, but it never snows in the city. I am more than fine with that.
